According to Women in Digital Empowerment (WIDE), “female entrepreneurship has been hit hard by the pandemic.”

The non-profit agency promoting women in new technologies, is organizing the 1st edition of its hackathon dedicated to women entrepreneurs. Titled “Restart for female digital starters”, the event will take place on Saturday, November 13 (from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm), at the Technoport of Belval.

In Collaborative Mode

“The day will be placed under the sign of collaboration between teams, to support and guide female project leaders, as well as on the sharing of experience and expertise with more experienced profiles. It is an opportunity to launch and develop new business ideas in the context of the economic recovery,” says Manon Thiel, Event and Communication Officer at WIDE.

During the session, participants will build their own business project and present it to a jury. 15 women with entrepreneurial projects – in human, foodtech and fintech fields – have already registered.

The event is part of the Erasmus+ program “Move It Forward+”, which aims to support women who want to launch their own digital business.

“Participants will have the opportunity to benefit from coaching with professionals to evaluate their ideas and take them to the next level.” The best projects will receive an award.

Prior to this event, participants will attend a series of webinars (on the Business Model Canvas, or WordPress). On November 12, a “Matchmaking Afterwork” will also be organized.

Within this framework, WIDE is looking for women with an idea/project to develop, volunteers willing to participate in the creation process and looking to join a team, and experts, willing to provide advice (Design/UX management, marketing/business…).

Women in Digital Initiatives Asbl, better known as WIDE (Women in Digital Empowerment) has been active for more than 8 years for the promotion of girls and women in the new technologies sector in Luxembourg and in the European context.
