Kleos Space Moves To Luxembourg’s Mini Silicon Valley

In November 2021, Kleos Space, the space-based radio frequency reconnaissance company is moving its Luxembourg headquarters to the newly constructed ParcLuxite Business Park in Kockelscheuer. The move will help the international Data-as-a-service (DaaS) integrate its key functions under one roof and better support its engineering teams in the UK and US.

According to the Union of Concerned Scientists there are about 6,500 satellites circling above our heads at this very moment. While the vast majority of these satellites are used for communication purposes, some companies, such as Kleos Space, launch their satellites for a variety of defence, commercial and regulatory purposes.

Founded in 2017 with the aim of developing a new Space enabled DaaS concept, Kleos Space has quickly grown into an innovative international Space company.

With the help of their satellites, Kleos Space locates radio transmissions in areas of high interest to their customers, effectively revealing data points which can be leveraged by government agencies, the intelligence community or businesses interested in threats, assets or targets.

In November 2020, Kleos Space launched their first cluster of satellites, serving as a technology and data demonstration test. Since then, they have launched another group of satellites in June 2021 which will be followed by a second launch at the end of the year.

“Our new Luxite site will allow us to be fully immersed in a high-tech environment.”

A Growing ParcLuxite

Inspired by Silicon Valley, the newly buily 65-hectare complex ParcLuxite will serve as Kleos Space’s new Luxembourg headquarters. The mini-Silicon Valley is located at the historic site of Poudrerie de Luxembourg in Kockelscheuer and will house the company’s engineering and operations facilities, their environmental test chambers as well as their vital mission control center.

“Our new Luxite site will allow us to be fully immersed in a high-tech environment. It will provide Kleos with the right environment to foster innovation and the ability to support the growth of our operations. Our new office will provide the perfect work environment for our teams to ensure we continue to meet our customers’ needs,” says Heribert Kraemer, COO of Kleos.

Next to their move, Kleos Space also just managed to secure the equivalent of 7.8 million euros from institutional investors Perennial Value Management and Thorney. This significant investment will go towards their data service expansion and their future launches.

With Luxembourg’s continued support of space innovation, Kleos Space will no doubt be well served in its new home.
