Luxembourg National Data Service Launches Responsible Re-Use of Public Data

The newly launched organisation initiated to support the secondary use of public sector data hosted its inaugural launch event and the first edition of the Data Summit Luxembourg, on Monday 5 December 2023 at the European Convention Center Luxembourg. 

The events featured presentations and demonstrations of value creation from public sector data, keynotes about national and European level involvement, as well as an introduction to the new services of the LNDS. 

Supporting public and private sector organisations in re-using data, LNDS’s objective is to make data more accessible, to solve data challenges together and in the most compliant and trustworthy way. LNDS strives for a positive impact through data: for society, the economy, and the environment.  

“LNDS is created by the Luxembourg government, to implement national strategies in research,  innovation, and digitalisation. We expect LNDS to make an impact here locally in Luxembourg, and we expect  LNDS to participate in the international economy, supporting European data spaces, and creating export opportunities for the Luxembourgish innovation and research ecosystem.”

“This year’s Data Summit  Luxembourg is the first of many. We aim to evolve it into an annual, signature event for local and  international participants, to become the ultimate learning event for data sharing and analysis,” said Bert Verdonck, CEO of LNDS,

In combination with the LNDS Launch Event and the first edition of Data Summit Luxembourg, the event  “Schengen-X” will was co-organised by five Gaia-X hubs from 4 to 5 December 2023.
