Explore the future with Rohit Talwar, Global Futurist and CEO of Fast Future, as he guides us through a transformed world shaped by AI and rapid technological advances post-ChatGPT’s launch on November 30th, 2022.

What insights will your keynote provide on navigating a changing world with new business thinking and technologies like AI?

Before the launch of ChatGPT on November 30th, 2022, very few organisations had AI at the top of their priority list and over 99 per cent of the planet had never even heard of artificial general intelligence (AGI) – the notion of AI that is as smart or smarter than humans in every regards. Within a year, everything has changed. The power of these large language models and the speed with which they are advancing are already transforming businesses and spawning new sectors. Decision making is happening many times faster, product innovation is accelerating, and business cycles are shortening as a result. The challenge for leaders now is to deepen their understanding of AI and related technologies, increase the level of experimentation, and demonstrate that they are digital assets not legacy liabilities.

Can you share strategies for organizations to adapt to accelerating innovation and emerging technologies based on your global experience?

Four common characteristics are emerging of firms that seem to respond faster, anticipate better, and deliver effective solutions with a shorter ‘time and cost’ to value – namely:

  • Learning at speed – to ensure decision makers are receptive to new ideas and possibilities and better able to assess opportunities, options, and next steps quickly
  • Innovation – a common innovation language and set of approaches are becoming an essential part of the leaders’ toolkit to ensure that participants can engage quickly, understand the challenge, and generate solutions at speed without rushing straight to technology
  • Foresight – applied foresight is becoming essential to futureproofing choices and decisions – from surfacing and testing the assumptions underpinning all decisions, strategies, and initiatives through to creating an effective radar for rapid and regular scanning of the world around us
  • Transformational thinking – the speed and scale of change is demanding that organisations not just redesign and adapt but fundamentally rethink and challenge every activity, process, strategy, and business model – asking the question ‘how would we do this if we were starting again’ – this has become essential to harnessing new technology developments to full effect and adapting our thinking to design around what the technology enables us to do.

How do you customize futurist insights for diverse clients, from corporations to government agencies, and what guiding principles shape your work across industries?

The key here is understanding the dynamics of the client environment and the challenges they face. This helps to customise the research undertaken and tailor the examples used and advice in a manner that resonates with they audience. People need to see a place for themselves in the future and believe that they can take ownership of their individual destiny. So, as much as the technology is exciting, the real priority is to demonstrate how it can help enhance what we do today and create opportunities for the future where individuals’ lives are enriched and full of optimism.
