Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the launch of new tools to enable businesses of all sizes to apply generative artificial intelligence (AI) in their applications.

These tools make it easier for developers to access core components of generative AI and work with third-party Foundation Models (FMs) or AWS’s own FMs. The services include cloud infrastructure for training AI models, AI-assisted coding tools, and access to large language models and text-to-image models. The launch of these services is expected to drive new levels of productivity within businesses and spark a wave of innovation.

The four new services launched by AWS include Amazon Bedrock, which offers API access to FMs from AI21Labs, Anthropic, Stability AI, and Amazon Titan FMs developed by AWS. Amazon EC2 Inf2 instances on AWS Inferentia2 chips are designed to offer high performance, energy efficiency, and low cost, while TRN1n instances on AWS Trainium chips are optimized for training generative AI models. Lastly, AWS CodeWhisperer is an AI-powered code tool that is now available for free. Here you can read the full blog post.

According to Swami Sivasubramanian, VP of Databases, Analytics, and Machine Learning at AWS, these new services are a massive step forward in democratizing access to generative AI. He believes that they will give customers the flexibility to build customized applications that can combine pre-trained AI models with their own data. AWS has expressed excitement about what organizations will build with generative AI on their platform and is working on even more services to enable developers of all skill levels and businesses of all sizes to innovate using generative AI.
