Emilie Allaert Appointed Head Of The Luxembourg Blockchain Lab

The Luxembourg Blockchain Lab becomes a new innovation cluster. As a cluster, the blockchain initiative, which aims to federate the local blockchain ecosystem, will have a wider reach and help local industries grasp any blockchain-related opportunities.

Luxembourg continues to push for blockchain and other distributed ledger technologies (DLTs). By promoting the Luxembourg Blockchain Lab (LBL) to a cluster, the LBL will be able to better fulfil its mission to help the grand duchy decipher and leverage the opportunities these technologies present.

Bettering society and the economy are among the motivations behind this decision. Knowledge dissemination, support to project bearers, links to SDGs and developing concrete solutions are all part of the plan to achieve these goals.

According to Emilie Allaert, newly-appointed head of the LBL, the promotion to cluster comes at just the right time: “DLT technology is at a tipping point where we need to act and deliver concrete solutions to the economy. It is essential to perceive the potential impact and support DLT can bring on the global sustainability goals strategy. The Luxembourg Blockchain Lab being recognised as a cluster will help reach out to a wide range of actors and facilitate collaboration and solutions using DLT.”

Next to its new responsibilities, the LBL will also oversee the Blockchain stream of the recently launched Digital Learning Hub after having signed a collaboration agreement with the Minister of Education, Children and Youth, Claude Meisch.

Following the success of its first Blockchain Week in 2021, the LBL will host its second edition from October 3rd to 7th, 2022, allowing an international audience to get a unique oversight of the technology’s potential and its impact for citizens and businesses.
