Luxembourg’s very own cloud computing and security solutions firm, Gcore delivers the country’s first AI-powered speech-to-text translation service from English to Luxembourgish, available for free.

In response to the growing need to translate text from English to Luxembourgish for business, conversational, or interactive purposes, Gcore has streamlined the solution using AI technology and advanced machine learning models.

With 16,000 hours of Luxembourgish recordings and support from SNT at the University of Luxembourg, Gcore’s model offers enhanced accuracy and efficiency. Powered by state-of-the-art IPUs, the platform ensures minimal latency, providing users with a superior translation experience.

“This initiative aims to celebrate the richness of the national language and foster multilingualism. It also has the potential to facilitate the use of Luxembourgish on popular messaging applications and government-powered chat services.”

The new Gcore AI tool, accessible through their customer portal, is flexible and can translate things like recordings for movies, plays, or music from English to Luxembourgish text, such as for making subtitles. The team is also working on making real-time translations available for use at conferences and events.

In the future, Gcore plans to add translation from other popular languages in Luxembourgish, like French and German, so people can easily communicate across those languages. Organisations keen to deploy the system can do so by having their IT support integrate the service into the communications tools they use.
