Celebrating an impressive history deeply rooted in both public and private healthcare sectors, Hospilux has established itself as a cornerstone of Luxembourg’s modern medical landscape.

While new healthcare initiatives, such as the upcoming HE:AL campus and the House of Biotech, have gained a lot of attention in recent years, Hospilux has been one of the industry’s biggest and longest successes of the past decades.

On-demand delivery

Established in 1983, Hospilux has emerged as a transformative force in reshaping Luxembourg’s healthcare procurement industry as the country’s leading medical equipment supplier. With a commitment to innovation, strategic alliances, and a customer-centric spirit, Hospilux has played a pivotal role in influencing the medical sector and the future of healthcare services in Luxembourg.

“Our primary mission is to find solutions to problems raised by clients to provide the best healthcare possible. What we are trying to do currently is to find medical device innovations that could allow us to go the extra mile and show our clients new innovations proactively.”

Operating as a market leader with an extensive inventory and a high turnover, Hospilux stands as a versatile and reliable medical solutions provider. Its inventory which boasts over 50,000 items includes products in medical equipment and furniture, hygiene, products for young parents, consumables, and more. Amongst the most well-known brands within the group’s product portfolio are Medela, B.Braun, 3M, and many more.

Committed to efficiency, Hospilux ensures swift 24-hour deliveries for in-stock items. What does this mean to patients, doctors, and hospitals alike? It means that the Hospilux inventory system makes all products available at the click of a button. Whether it be on the Hospilux website or the Letzshop online partnership, all products are available with the click of a button. “Orders placed before 2 pm are delivered in a day,” said Henckes.

A source of solutions

Surprisingly versatile, Hospilux caters to both private and public sectors, standing as a reliable medical solutions provider across various domains. Serving healthcare institutions, home care providers, and individuals, Hospilux has partnerships all across the healthcare ecosystem. Strong supplier relationships and extensive experience enable the company to offer tailored solutions for hospitals, personalised support for care homes, and prompt deliveries for diverse healthcare professionals.

The accomplished team of 60 employees achieved a noteworthy turnover exceeding €30 million in 2023, serving a diverse clientele including hospitals, nursing homes, doctors, and industrial companies. The crucible of the Covid-19 pandemic showcased Hospilux’s unwavering commitment to Luxembourg. Operating at its maximum capacity when borders were closed, Hospilux proved its capabilities and dedication to both private and public sectors.

As CEO Nicolas Henckes notes, “Covid-19 was a prime example that showed Hospilux and its clients what we are capable of,” emphasising the company’s resilience and unwavering support during challenging times. “With borders closed, Hospilux managed to serve Luxembourg the best it could, given the constraints. The team stood tall and gave their best efforts, sometimes on the limit, to find solutions for our clients, in a context where sourcing quality products was a real challenge” said Henckes.

Beyond a diverse array of products, services, and business requirements, Hospilux promises unwavering reliability, both in the present and the future. As Henckes states: “We are a name to trust, whether you are a partner or patient, you can rely on Hospilux in areas beyond regular understanding, we go above and beyond, it’s not just making a sale, but everything that precedes and proceeds it.”

New directions incorporated

Under the leadership of CEO Nicolas Henckes, who left his role as the director of the CLC in 2022 to join Hospilux, a new course was set. As of 2022, a new strategy was decided to accelerate Hospilux and foster its leadership in the national market. The company headed towards two main developments, digitalisation and reorganisation.

“Two main developments were decided on: digitalizing the company in order to gain efficiency in all main processes, and increase the quality of services, and reorganising the whole management to increase reactivity and proactivity in relation with clients.”

“While the first reform pertains to a technological aspect, the second corresponds to empowering each expert within Hospilux to allow them to serve clients better,” said Henckes.

Hospilux maintains its commitment to excellence through ongoing partnerships and training for its staff members. In an ever-changing market, the company ensures that its team is equipped to navigate challenges, emphasising the fine balance between business and care. Henckes envisions beneficial partnerships that will further enhance both public and private sectors in Luxembourg.

“Partnering with Hospilux means much more, it means that as our client, we provide after-sales services and warranty, we check up on our clients, making sure that all is well, and even our sales team is trained in after sales service and warranty,” said CEO Henckes.

Beyond the present successes, Hospilux is setting the stage for future advancements. Embracing technological innovations, the company envisions a healthcare landscape where cutting-edge solutions meet compassionate care.

”We know that our clients’ teams are often under pressure, so what we try to do is to offer services that will allow them to focus on their main mission: being at the bedside. Considering surgical trolleys as illustrations, hospitals share their scheduled surgery programs with Hospilux, enabling staff members to equip trolleys with the required procedure packs, tailored specifically to each surgery type,” said CEO Henckes.

Certified and trusted

As societal consciousness about environmental impact grows, Hospilux stands at the forefront of sustainability. Implementing eco-friendly practices, the company strives to minimise its carbon footprint and promote sustainable sourcing. From energy efficiency to proper waste management, Hospilux integrates sustainability into its core values, aligning business success with environmental responsibility.

“Sustainability management is not a marketing or HR tool. It’s a strategic mindset that needs to be lived in every process of an organisation. The aim is the creation of shared value amongst our shareholders, which is a necessary condition for long-term success. It’s not easy, we are not perfect, but we improve every day, as there is no way around it,” said Henckes.

Hospilux’s name has become synonymous with trust, exemplified by its continuous adherence to ISO 9001 certification since 2006. The stringent criteria for a quality management system underscore Hospilux’s dedication to customer satisfaction and compliant product delivery. The company’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is evident in achieving two CSR labels in 2022, ESR, Entreprise Responsible, and Responsibility Europe.

In essence, Hospilux not only signifies innovation and adaptability in Luxembourg’s healthcare landscape but also sets a modern benchmark for excellence. The fusion of tailored practices with an unwavering commitment to societal well-being and sustainable impact positions Hospilux as a leader in shaping Luxembourg’s healthcare industry.
