The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) just released its Annual Report 2022, highlighting in particular last year’s efforts towards a sustainable energy transition.

In 2022, Luxembourg’s leading research and technology organisation LIST kept pushing its impact-driven mission forward with its “Sustainable by Design” approach, confirm the findings of its Annual Report

“LIST 2022 annual report highlights our efforts to continue to foster innovation in Luxembourg and create new solutions that promote the global move towards sustainability,” said Eva Kremer, chairwoman of the board of directors.

Among last year’s highlights are the 18 new collaboration agreements, many of which are related to the energy transition, the launch of an innovative centre for sustainable composite materials, the appointment of ESRIC director Kathryn Hadler, as well as the successful completion of the 5G network digital twin for connected mobility project.

A new spin-off

On the startup side, LIST successfully launched invitrolize, a spin-off company focusing on the early detection of chemical respiratory irritants during the development of new products.

Creating strong research remains at the heart of what LIST does. Its 62 collaborative projects, 123 national competitive projects and 57 international competitive projects are proof of LIST’s continued efforts in this area.

With 676 employees, 34% of which are women, and 54 nationalities, LIST is an international organisation. While the ratio of women could be higher, the institute took part in the Ministry of Equality between Women and Men’s (MEGA) Positive Actions programme and was an official sponsor of Luxembourg’s Pride Week. Furthermore, LIST continued its collaboration with the FNR and the University of Luxembourg to improve the professional situation of female researchers in Luxembourg.

Finally, LIST signed its 2022-2025 multi-year agreement with the Luxembourg State and saw its allocation increase by 18% for this period. This signature confirms LIST’s strategy as defined in the 2022-2025 multi-year work program.
