He will assume his new position starting 1 September 2024. His predecessor, Nicolas Mackel, will take up the role of Ambassador to the EU.

Having served at Luxembourg’s Bankers association ABBL, as Deputy CEO of Luxembourg for Finance and as Director in charge of the Development of the Financial Centre at the Ministry of Finance, Tom Théobald comes with a wealth of experience.

“Tom Théobald has accompanied and contributed greatly to the work done by Luxembourg for Finance over the last years and is uniquely positioned to lead it on its successful journey. Our partners from PROFIL and I look forward to continuing to work with him in implementing our ambitious agenda for developing Luxembourg’s financial centre,” Gilles Roth, Minister of Finance and Chair of Luxembourg for Finance.

After more than a decade as the head of LFF, Nicolas Mackel will return to his previous professional calling in Brussels, taking up the post of Luxembourg Ambassador to the EU.

“We all congratulate Nicolas Mackel on his appointment to a posting of central importance to the Government’s priorities and thank him for the impressive work accomplished in the last 11 years. Nicolas has indeed been instrumental in developing and strengthening Luxembourg’s role as a leading international centre for more than a decade,” said Gilles Roth.
