SNCI, Supporting Entrepreneurship

Companies that play an active role in the development of the Luxembourg economy need long-term financing to establish themselves, grow or innovate. They are currently facing a difficult marked environment notably due to inflation, rising material and energy costs.

SNCI, Société Nationale de Crédit et d’Investissement, is a neutral financing partner. SNCI offers financing in close collaboration with banks and acts as an intermediary to help understand the project and structure the financing.

Once an entrepreneur’s project has matured and their business plan is drawn up, SNCI may provide advice on available financing solutions.

As a public bank, the SNCI maintains close contacts with the main banking institutions in Luxembourg, as well as with business support and advice centres such as the Chamber of Trades, the Chamber of Commerce, the Ministry of the Economy, etc.

One example is the company Annen in Manternach. Thanks to SNCI’s co-financing proDevelop programme, the company was able to build their own factory building using a new type of timber arch construction. The proDevelop programme (one of SNCI’s financial programmes) provides loans to companies wishing to expand or carry out particularly ambitious projects. SNCI was particularly impressed by Annen’s commitment to sustainable and innovative construction for the future.

In this case, as in many others, SNCI helped to structure the financing for ambitious project in collaboration with the customer’s bank and other partners, thereby ensuring that the project was adequately financed.

SNCI is not providing the entire financing of the business project. However, in terms of risk sharing and co-financing, SNCI is aiming to achieve an appropriate balance between different sources of finance available.
