Manuel Werquin, Tango’s head of broadband and VAS services, tells us more about Tango’s internet services and what distinguishes them from their competition.
You are the head of Broadband and VAS Services. What are the main challenges in this role?
The main challenge is ensuring that our products answer our customer’s needs. The services we offer are mainly to SMBs which all have different needs so we aim to ensure that we match the right product with the right customer. These include internet connectivity, our cloud telephony solution (Fix4Bizz) and a whole range of value-added services, for instance, our newly launched cybersecurity option.
Which of these products are most in demand?
Currently, there is a real demand for fibre internet which, depending on the chosen contract, can be anywhere between 300Mbit/s to 2Gbps. The Fix4Bizz product has also been seeing a lot of demand recently because companies are moving away from the analogue telephony and are looking for more flexible solutions and because they usually don’t have the technical expertise to do it themselves. I will go more into detail about this here.
How long does it take for these products to be setup?
It usually takes between one to two weeks. Technicians are available throughout the whole process: pre-visit, installation and follow-up. We also help them switch fixed telephony providers while keeping the same number.
How do your products compare to those of your competition?
Tango uses the newest fibre technology for its internet connectivity, giving us up to 2Gbps, and making us the fastest internet provider in Luxembourg. However, 85% of the whole country can get up to 1Gbps while 50% of the country can reach 2Gbps. We propose very competitive price packages in order to make our product and services attractive to SMB. What is the technology behind your fibre connection?
We upgraded our entire network with this new technology called XGS-PON, the fastest and most future-proof fibre technology. It has already been deployed in some countries but we are the first to do so commercially in Luxembourg. The 2Gbps will soon become a standard but this new technology allows us to be ready for the future, reaching speeds up to 10 Gbps.
