In the first half of 2023, artificial intelligence took over the startup world and while it’s only slowly taking shape in Luxembourg, increasingly startups are integrating the technology into their services. Silicon Luxembourg presents 5 AI startups that may have passed under your radar.

According to Earlybird data, Europe has just shy of 1200 startups active in the AI space. While the difference between being AI-based, AI-powered, AI-driven and others is unclear to most, Startup Luxembourg’s ecosystem mapping counts 93 startups in Luxembourg whose main sector is AI.

While many of these are already well-known to the public – the likes of EmailTree, TadaWeb and Zortify – others have kept a lower profile, either because they were only recently incorporated or because they are less. Below is a brief overview of five of them.

athena studio

Founded in 2023, athena studio is a SaaS-platform created by and for fashion product developers that enables brands to optimise their designs for profitability and ecological footprint. The fashiontech has integrated AI into its SaaS platform to support it in more accurately forecasting material and garment prices, thereby enabling it to help its clients make more cost effective choices.

VoiceMed

First launched during the Covid-19 pandemic to screen patients for the virus via various voice recordings, VoiceMed has since branched out into respiratory health in general, having released one astham app and working on others. The healthtech combines sound analysis with artificial intelligence to detect subtle signals in the sounds, which, through research development have become vocal biomarkers and health indicators.

Skippet

Founded in 2020, Skippet’s long-term vision to provide a platform where people can create virtually any app by using natural language only. However, as this is a long-term goal, the company is currently trialling its AI-powered workspace which aims to help teams, businesses and freelancers to better manage their projects and data.

Dynaccurate

Launched in May 2021, Dynaccurate is an AI startup specialised in the management and the matching of medical terminologies. Dynaccurate AI, its flagship solution, helps health and life sciences firms to manage the relationships between specific clinical terms, when processing high volumes of qualitative health data.

LUXAI


Active since 2017, LUXAI has developed QTrobot, an expressive social robot designed to support a variety of use-cases including education of children with autism and other special needs education as well as human-robot interaction research and teaching. It’s being used at universities such as the EPFL in Lausanne, USC in California and the University of Language in various fields, including human AI research.
