CMS Luxembourg, The Business Boutique Law Firm

Business boutique law firm CMS Luxembourg recently joined the Silicon Luxembourg Business Club. Get to know the company and the startup program, equIP.
Tell us more about you.

CMS Luxembourg is a relatively young law firm created in 2011 through Leclère & Walry, a business boutique law firm established in 2008 which then joined a top 10 global firm with 4,500 lawyers working across 73 offices in 41 countries. Today, we are more than 30 lawyers working in the Lux office, including 5 partners, and the team keeps growing steadily. This gives us the ability to practice law with the expertise of a big firm but with the personal touch of a smaller organisation.

What is your business model?

Our aim is to offer a “one-stop-shop” service to our clients and to provide tailor-made solutions to answer their needs while ensuring flexibility, responsiveness and cost efficiency. We structure our business in practice area and industry sector groups to develop a comprehensive understanding of our clients’ businesses and markets. Our goal is to be not just great technical lawyers, but to truly understand the unique challenges of each market sector, so that we can deliver sound and commercially relevant advice.

“As from 2019, CMS equIP will be made available in Luxembourg for 8 selected startups in Luxembourg.”

What are your products/services?

We are currently developing the equIP program. We specifically designed it for startups to cover all legal issues that they are facing. With equIP, startups will benefit from discounted legal fees, fixed fee services such as “health-checks” and standard contracts packages to support their growth at any stage of their development. Furthermore, the program offers several added value services such as access to our extensive footprint, exclusive events, workshops, regular member newsletter or introductions to relevant industry players in key sectors such as Finance, Technology, Life sciences and Healthcare.

In Luxembourg, equIP is led by Laure Chemla who is in charge of the Intellectual Property. She notably works with startups, as well as with more established companies, to guide them with their intellectual property portfolio strategy, their filings (trademark, design, patent, etc.) and even support them in case of prosecution, whether they are claimant or defendant.

What are the next steps in your development?

As from 2019, CMS equIP will be made available in Luxembourg for 8 selected startups in Luxembourg and yours might be one of them. During the coming months, we will be selecting the first group of startups eligible based on our experience with the Luxembourg startup scene and on the spontaneous applications we will receive. Should you be interested, feel free to contact Laure. We are eager to receive your application!
