Exploring The “New Normal” At TEDxLuxembourgCity

TEDx is set to return to Luxembourg City on 4 December, gathering a panel of passionate storytellers to talk about “the new normal.”

Inspired by the global TED conferences series founded in the US in 1990, TEDx are independently-organised events gathering like-minded people to give and hear idea-focused talks, demonstrations and performances that aim to encourage learning and provoke conversations.

After a short break in 2020, the 4 December event will be TEDxLuxembourgCity’s second event of 2021.

Organisers Dirk Daenen and Cândida Negog explain.

The last Luxembourg TEDx event and examine some ground-breaking ideas and projects in education. What specifically did you set out to explore to the latest topic “the new normal”?

Our TEDxEducation event had some incredible ideas from students, teachers and decision makers at the ministry of education (including the minister himself). We feel like the talks in education are valuable and we plan to continue with the education focused event, with another one coming in May 2022.

For this TEDxLuxembourgCity event, we aim to explore, explain and excite our community into ‘new’ areas that are or will be considered normal. We will have speakers talking about a wide array of topics including happiness, extreme adventure, dance, corporate social responsibility, the future of food, martial arts, and so many more.

Which of the speakers are you most looking forward to hearing from?

This is an impossible question! Our TEDxLuxembourgCity team is so privileged to be able to choose the subjects we want our community to hear about. Some of us have a more personal connection to the subjects but, in all honesty, every topic will be wonderfully insightful.

What is the new normal for the TEDx LuxembourgCity team and for events like yours?

We have all experienced some very challenging times. Our normality today will not be the same as our normality tomorrow which in turn is definitely not the same as it was a couple of years ago. This is true for our personal and professional lives. Exploring this new normal is our ‘duty’ at TEDxLuxembourgCity. This is of course also true for events.

Coordinating TEDx events over the last years has been quite challenging, to say the least. We never used to live stream our events because we felt, and I also personally still feel, that the atmosphere at a live event is absolutely unique. The audience members we meet at a live TEDx event are uniquely clever, open minded and interested in making our lives better.

I have made some wonderful, life-long friends at TEDx events. We will of course live stream this event (as is expected in our new normal), but we would certainly encourage you to come and experience our event in person. We have sold out every event we have had here in Luxembourg. That being said, I would encourage you to purchase your tickets for our event on 4 December as soon as they become available!
