Fintech CarPay-Diem Partners With Parkopedia For In-Car Fuel Payments

The CarPay-Diem platform, that allows any mobile application or connected car to activate a pump and manage payment from inside the very vehicle, has partnered up with Parkopedia’s recently launched payment platform to enable in-car fuel payments, which subsequently means that Parkopedia is the becoming the largest platform for in-car fuel payment in Europe.

Parkopedia was founded in 2007. with the goal of letting drivers find the closest parking to their respective destinations, the cost of the parking and if there is space available.

On their website it says that “Parkopedia has become the world’s leading parking service provider used by millions of drivers and organizations such as Apple, Audi, BMW, Coyote, Ford, Garmin, GM, HERE, Honda, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Peugeot, Porsche, Skoda, Sygic, TomTom, Toyota, Volkswagen, Volvo and others.”

Fleeteurope crunched the numbers and reports that “Parkopedia customers can use the in-car fuelling payment service at almost 3,500 petrol stations across six countries – a number that is expected to rise to 60,000 stations across 18 countries within the next three years. Today, CarPay-Diem covers Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands with expansion into Poland, Italy, Spain, Austria and Switzerland to follow shortly”.

This also means that you will no longer need numerous apps for things such as tolls or parking.

“We want to strengthen our leadership position by expanding our network and increasing service availability to new partners.”

Frédéric Stiernon, Co-founder & CEO of CarPay-Diem

“Leveraging Parkopedia’s aggregation of vertical mobility services such as parking, tolling and charging through a unique payment experience, CarPay-Diem completes that offering thanks to our distinctive approach to serve those markets “differently” than competing pay-at-the-pump solution providers and our ambition to become – together with our customers and partners – Europe’s largest and most diversified acceptance network”, says Philippe Meyer, Chief Customer Officer at CarPay-Diem.

The Luxembourg based start-up has been gaining success – as Silicon Luxembourg wrote, in 2020. The Fleet & Mobility division of the Edenred group acquired 10% of the capital of the then 14-person company, thereby gaining access to its digital transaction solution.

“We are going to gain access to all the European countries where Edenred is already present and a partner of more than 52,000 service stations. On the other hand, it consolidates our leadership position and reinforces the company’s long-term stability. We are now backed by a large international group, also active in the fuel world, which collaborates with all the major oil groups and their service stations. This is quite reassuring for our customers and partner”, said Frédéric Stiernon, co-founder and CEO of the startup back then, with his words becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts.

“We want to strengthen our leadership position by expanding our network and increasing service availability to new partners”, he concluded.
