Uni.lu Appoints New Faculty Of Science, Tech & Medicine Dean

The University of Luxembourg has appointed Prof. Pascal Bouvry as the new dean of the Faculty of  Science, Technology and Medicine. 

Prof. Bouvry, who succeeds Prof. Jean-Marc Schlenker, will begin his new, five-year mandate on 20 October 2023, according to the newly redesigned university website

Professor of Computer Science and Head of High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure at the University of Luxembourg since 2002, Prof. Bouvry earned his undergraduate degree in economics and social sciences and his Master’s degree in computer science from the University of Namur, Belgium.

In 1994, he completed a PhD degree in computer science at the Grenoble Institute of Technology (at the time Institut national polytechnique de Grenoble, INPG), France, and worked in technology consultancy and leadership in several international companies.  

At the University of Luxembourg, Prof. Bouvry leads the Parallel Computing and Optimisation Group, directs the doctoral programme in computational sciences and the certificate “SmartICT for business innovation” and has led the University’s activities in HPC. 

 “The new dean Pascal Bouvry has been instrumental in leading the internationally competitive computing infrastructure of our University,” said University Rector Jens Kreisel, adding: “I welcome the opportunity to work closely with him, as he is a rare profile combining academic and industrial expertise and driving the creation of the next generation of experts in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.”
